As I recall, it took them FOREVER to post even a beta driver for their scanners after the release of Mac OS X 10.1, and when they did, many older scanners (and 'older' didn't have to be all that old) weren't supported. I ended up with VueScan and that produced much better than the Epson drivers ever did under OS 9. I see that my scanner is now supported by Apple in Panther, although I wish there was a way to turn that support off, since as soon as I turn my scanner on the scanner driver app is loaded even if I want to use something like VueScan instead of Image Capture.

But Epson's not as bad as, say, Umax. I bought a Perfection 1200U in, hmmmm, 1999? Anyhow, it was obsolete by the time Mac OS X came out. And, it took them a bit, but they had a beta version of scanning software for 10.1, a final version for 10.2 (actually released only for the 1240U and up, but worked with mine just fine), and an improved version for 10.3 It's probably because your printer is a SCSI model that they've declined to extend support that far back. My impression is it's an appreciably more difficult task to add SCSI support under OS X than to support USB or Firewire.

I suspect that even if your scanner is supported, the ADF may not be; it seems that support for my Epson scanner is pretty basic with Image Capture.
