Bootcamp For Mac Solidworks 2018
Review of Mastercam 2018 For SolidWorks. SolidWorks offers a full featured designing application for mechanical professionals. Mastercam 2018 provides various improvements and highly effective integrations such as toolpaths integration, design tables style platforms and many additional functions.
I've seen SOLIDWORKS on a few Apple computers in my life, all worked poorly, if at all. With modern hardware, using boot-camp, you might have a shot, however you won't get support or help from tech support if you have a question/issue. Whatever you do don't use Parallels.
Per the Realview question, that's also very suspect. Even if your graphics hardware supports it (I'm not 100% certain), the right drivers, hardware setup, etc.
Would make that difficult at best. For the money, you can get windows native laptops that perform better than Mac if the goal is to run SOLIDWORKS. However Apple does make some very nice machines, and I understand the draw.
Peter, The Iris Plus graphic are significant faster than the Intel HD Graphics. As you see I have a HP Spectre which runs the Intel HD 620 Graphics But the Spectre is just a personal computer I have for my own use. Not something I use for business From my experience with SOLIDWORKS it will run on most things. I've seen the same issues with both approved & non approved Graphic Cards. The main issues arise when it starts to run out of resources.
So it comes down to what you are wanting to do. If you making Large Assemblies (500+ parts) or complex surface models (200+ features) then I wouldn't recommend. Anything less than that you should be fine.
Want to learn how-to run Windows®-specific CAD (computer-aided design) software on your Mac®? Don’t fret—you absolutely can! SolidWorks® is a widely used 3D design software that runs very well using.
Performance Tips: Want to know how to fine-tune your virtual machine for performance-intensive tasks such as running CAD programs? Here are our top tips: Use multiple cores for the VM: While Parallels Desktop now defaults to two processors for a new VM, if your VM was created before this setting was the default, your VM might only be using one core. Change this setting to two or perhaps four cores to improve the performance Dedicating more memory to your VM will help. Think of RAM like a work bench: the more space you have, the more projects you can actively work on; with less space, only smaller projects will be available. Running CAD software within a VM isn’t a “light” performance task. However much RAM you allocate to your VM, please keep in mind that your host operating system will need a minimum of 4 GB to run macOS®.
If the macOS is slowed, then everything running on the Mac will become slower, and this includes Parallels Desktop and any VMs, and any apps inside those VMs. Now, meet a talented mechanical engineering student from, Matt Huffman.
Best for the Most Storage. The Patriot Supersonic Rage 2 is a high-end option that's available with up to 512 GB of storage. It supports USB 3.1 standard, so it can reach impressive data read and write speeds (up to 400 MB/s and 300 MB/s, respectively). Best cloud back-up for mac.
He utilizes a virtualized environment to run on his MacBook Pro®. Additionally, Matt is a member of Auburn University’s Mechanical Engineering Club, where passionate students fabricate and build an actual Formula 1 car from scratch to compete around the world. “I chose Parallels because it is really easy to use and set up compared to the other guys. It is also the software that I had heard the most about. I use Microsoft® Office (Word, Excel®, PowerPoint®) often for school. I use Parallels often with SolidWorks when modeling and designing parts for the Auburn Formula team. I use Chrome™ as my primary browser.
