Returning to Mac world after 10 years with Windows. I purchased 3 macs and installed Office 2011 on each one. Importing my contacts from Windows Outlook 2010 via an exported.pst file went without a hitch on all 3 Macs with Office 2011. Now that the windows computers are gone, I need to manually export and import (since syncing is gone with Mavericks) my contacts from my primary Office Mac to my Home Office Mac and my Macbook. I'm pulling my hair out! When I export my contacts I'm getting an.olm file that is only 9 kb in size.and it doesn't contain any the contacts to export. I'm beginning to regret the move.

I could syc my calendar and contacts easily in the Windows world. The Mac Outlook Calendar doesn't sync with my google calendar. There isn't any software in the Mac world yet to seamlessly sync my gmail contacts with Outlook.AND now I'm finding I can't even manually update Outlook contacts between my Macs. I've done lots of research and I know I'm going through the proper steps to export and import my contact files. But it's NOT WORKING.

A.pst file is the data file used by Outlook for Windows to archive your email messages, contacts, calendar items, tasks, and notes. You can import the.pst file in order to transfer messages from a Windows-based computer to Outlook 2016 for Mac or Outlook 2019 for Mac.

And I'm REALLY not happy that I paid extra for a clearly inferior/useless App that is Outlook in name only. Anybody have any answers? Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, this document is a good example of the convoluted mess they've made out of the Mac version of Outlook.

In windows all I had to do was export to a.pst file.and import that file directly to my other computers. In Windows I also was able to sync my contacts with gmail contacts via an app.and it worked well. I was even able to sync my gmail calendar. When I realized that sycing was not available to me in the Mac version, I decided I could go back to exporting and importing contact files between computers to keep them up to date.was willing to do that to keep using what I considered to be an excellent email program.

I most certainly should not have to do all the conversions going through Excel and the cloud in order to simply update one computer's Outlook contacts from another. How could these programmers make it so easy to transfer files directly from Windows Outlook to the Mac version via.pst files.and then make the process such a mess once you're in the Mac version and want to transfer files to another Mac? I did try exporting my Outlook contacts via the text/tab route and imported it directly to Outlook on my 2nd Mac.

I thought this might work after all. Then I saw that all formatting on the Notes was absent.and the Groups did not transfer. Not acceptable. Although I am going to miss Outlook's handling of Groups. I've given up on it. I'll make do with the MacMail and Calendar apps. They sync flawlessly with both the contacts and calendar of my gmail accounts.
